Mechanics Wanted
Are
you mechanically inclined? We are looking for people who know how to fix
things and are ready to work. We offer training and competitive pay. Entry
level and experienced positions available.
What
is Entry Level?
If
you have never worked in a business situation as a mechanic, you would
be considered entry level.
What
is Experienced?
You
are experienced if you have worked as a mechanic professionally, this means
that you have tools and most likely a roll around toolbox. You do not need
to be supervised to perform normal mechanical tasks. You understand how
to use manuals and special tools, look up parts after a minimal instructional
period, and properly fill out a work order or RO, and any necessary paperwork
for the dealership to be reimbursed by a boat or engine company. You stay
on task without being badgered and are responsible for the work you perform.
You will be required to use a computer for logging on and off of jobs and
keeping track of your work and to look up most parts. We will provide instruction
for our system and marine specific itmes you may not be familiari with.
Basic computer knowledge is required. You will be required to communicate
with boat companies via email. If you have worked as a mechanic we will
offer basic training in these areas but you may have to spend some of your
own time learning. Essentially an experienced machanic should be up and
running in our shop in no more than a week from being hired.
Having
performed the service work on your own or friends automobiles, boats or
snowmobiles does not qualify you as being an experienced mechanic. We may
make exceptions for people based on training at technical colleges, also
consideration will be given for training and experience in other fields
like diesel, agricultural, aviation, or automotive. If you have a question
in this area please call or email Tom.
What
kind of work would I be doing?
Our
work falls into a few main areas. First preparing new boats, which consists
of installing drives and starting and running the boat and checking over
all the systems. filing warranty claims with any thing that is wrong. Second
is routine service and warranty repairs, things like oil changes and services
and replacing warranty items that are defective. Another item that falls
into this area is trade in inspections. Third would be major repairs like
rebuilding drives and engines. Fourth would be fiberglass work (no experience
required).
How
do we pay technicians?
Technicians
are paid a monthly salary and commission based on how many hours they bill
out. Techs are paid for the hours they bill when the dealership is paid
for those hours. If you can bill more than 8 hours in a day you get paid
for all the hours you bill. If you can only bill 2 hours in a day you will
only be paid commission for those 2 hours.
Other
information:
Our
shop is open Monday through Friday 9-6 and Saturday 9-5, so you may have
split days off and you may have to work Saturdays. We try to keep
mechanics on a consistent schedule so you can plan for your time off. Our
busiest weeks are the weeks before and after all major summer holidays.
They are not available to be vacation or absent without pay. They are required
work weeks. So we don’t take extra days off for those holidays, for instance
on Memorial Day in May, we close at 5 on Saturday and reopen Tuesday at
9. Everyone works Tuesday through Saturday the week after Memorial Day.
We do the majority of our business in the summer so we work when people
need us to be here.
We
are a growing business and we keep all of our key employees year long.
The postions we are offering are full time, 12 month a year positions.
If you are interested in seasonal employment we could talk about that as
well.
You
must be able to bend over, climb in and out of boats, reach into small
areas and lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 90 lbs on occasion. Proof
of US citizenship (drivers license, or state issued I.D. etc.) or proper
paperwork will be required for all employees, all state paperwork will
be sent in and filed.
If
you are interested please send, fax or email your resume. If you don’t
have a resume call and we will mail, fax or email you an application or
make a list of your employment history with references and with phone numbers
and address. Your references will be contacted. If the reference information
is not included you will contacted once for the information. If we do not
receive the formation you may not be considered for the position.
We
are a great place to work and don't micro-manage our employees, and we
are quite flexible. If you are a good worker we will train you and would
love to have you working for us.
Thanks
